I've always been a fan of ballin' on a budget. Thrifting is literally a way of life for me and my closest friends. We go on thrift tours and are known to be consistent customers of Good Will (especially in high end neighborhoods, that's where you find the luxe).
My go-to thrift store? Value Village of course! Its a thrifter's dream--a thrifting DEPARTMENT STORE. Its huge. Because I've worked at second-hand stores like Plato's Closet and Buffalo Exchange, I've learned how to examine clothing for the following: signs of wear (fuzzies, fading), holes, tears, rips, smells. The usual. So I know how to choose luxe fabrics and items in the best conditions. The best part about thrifting (other than the prices)? Finding original trends that are current (IE: vintage pieces that are now current trends, but no one has it like you do lol).
I had my "Merlot" shoot with my cousin, Mr. SOC, and the 100% leather trench, body suit and velvet pants are all thrifted from various Value Village stores. The fur collar is a detachable gift from a past NYC internship (not exactly what kind of real fur it is...), while the boots are from Target :)
